Derby Style!

Some do the Kentucky Derby, others do the Preakness, but around here we do the Belmont Stakes. So this Saturday D and I are heading to Belmont to see the horses, maybe place a few bets, but more importantly get dressed up (obviously my favorite part). We've gone the past two years and it's suddenly become a tradition that we have to go every year. It's just such a fun day to get dressed up, eat, drink, and.....the hats....oh the hats!
Here are some inspiration photos I found on Pinterest for possible outfits:
I love the color of this dress and the peonies on the hat!
Gotta sneak in a little Man Men inspiration here.
Black and white style.
I like this look because it has a vintage feel to it.

They make a Kentucky Derby Barbie! How funny is that?
Totally loving her outfit though....do they make this in my size?
Derby style ala Gossip Girl.
Now that I think of it, doesn't Chuck Bass dress like he's going to the derby everyday?
Little derby goer. So cute!
With all the derby fashion, I'm thinking a derby themed party would be so much fun to have!
Get all your guests to dress up (obviously!) and serve mint juleps...
...and mint julep cupcakes!!!
And how crazy is this donut hat??
She certainly makes it look fab though!
And finally here is a picture of me and D from Belmont last year : )

Does anyone else love the "derby style" as much as I do?
Stay tuned for photos from this weekend and what we ended up wearing : )

Look of the Day: Leather and Minis

I've loved this look on Nicki Hilton as an inspiration photo, and then the version created by J from J's Everyday Fashion {which I love by the way!} and wanted to share the original photos that inspired me, and then my own version of the look.
Here's my first version of it with black tights - perfect for fall and winter.
And another photo of me being silly : )
And then this is my spring and summer version, which I "lightened" up with a lighter colored leather jacket, skipped the black tights, and opted for nude heels.
(Sorry the picture sucks - without my bf/photographer my photo quality really suffers!!)
The off the shoulder dress and necklace are the same in both pics.
And both bought at a local boutique in Hoboken, NJ. (Together under $40)
Black Leather Jacket - Christmas gift
Black Heels by Marc Fisher (Macy's)
Faux Leather Jacket from Express (last season but still available) Found here.
Nude Heels by Nine West   (Macy's)

So what are your thoughts on this look?
Do you transition your clothes from fall/winter to spring and summer and how do you do it?

Summer Bucket List #21 - Berry Picking

I officially accomplished the first thing off my Summer Bucket List. This past weekend we went strawberry and pea picking. Yes, that's right I said pea picking! I never knew you could pick for peas, and I don't particularly like peas, but I'll always find an excuse to eat fresh fruits and veggies picked straight off the vine. Here are some picture we took from Seiple Farms.
 Mutant strawberry.
The perfect berry.

The sell them for free?  Haha sign FAIL!
just like two peas in a pod <3.

Looks like we'll be eating strawberries for a while....
Later that night we had fresh strawberry shortcakes with homemade shortcakes and whipped cream.
And the past few mornings I've been having my usual breakfast (1 whole wheat waffle topped with peanut butter and bananas) and substituting in fresh strawberries instead. So delish!

Anyone have any good suggestions/recipes for strawberries?

Look of the Day: Masculine + Feminine

Why is it so randomly cold today?? With the weather cooling down a bit near me I thought I'd try out some outfits with jeans and long sleeves while I still could get away with it...
Mixing masculine and feminine pieces here is what I was trying to recreate. I love the look of the traditional masculine pieces {flannel shirt, leather} and mixing in feminine accents {skinny jeans, heels} to create this street chic look.
The first two photos were my inspiration photos {found on Pinterest}
and the one all the way to the right is my recreation of this look.
{Please excuse the messy background and poor photography - I was in a rush out the door!}

Outfit Details
Leather Jacket - Christmas gift from D
flannel shirt - American Eagle (pretty old)
jeans - Express (also very old)
Purse - Coach
Classic Black Heels - Nine West
Necklace - Charlotte Russe

So what are your thoughts on mixing masculine and feminine pieces?
Would you wear this look?
