"Can't you see that it's just raining?
Ain't no need to go outside...
Baby, you hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep you
From doing what you're supposed to.
Waking up too early
Maybe we can sleep in
I'll make you banana apple pancakes
Pretend like it's the weekend now"
In case you didn't recognize those lyrics, they are from Jack Johnson's "Banana Pancakes" song which is one of my favorites! But in this house we make D's famous apple pancakes, which was a speciality of his father's. It seems to be one of our Saturday/Sunday morning rituals of making pancakes, lounging around drinking coffee and tea and savoring the rest of our morning before our day officially starts (if it ever does!) Since he always makes them (and the key ingredient to what makes them so amazing is a family secret) I'll share some pics of the pancake master hard at work!
Apple pancakes are perfect to make in the fall during apple picking season, when we have so many apples we don't know what to do with!
There's my pancake master hard at work!
Naked brand juices are my new favorite "thing" --all natural fruits and no sugar added.
The fluffiest apple pancakes I ever did eat!
I eat mine with a little butter and syrup, but D eats his with butter and sprinkled white sugar (which he claims is an Irish thing?) I think it's just a D thing -- but feel free to try it either way!
Here's to pretending it's the weekend now!
