As I mentioned in this post D and I moved into an awesome new apartment -- and even thought we've only been here for a month, I have so many fun and exciting decorating ideas. A few things I had in mind include:
Turning a small awkward room in my dream walk in closet
Exposed brick in the living room
Two faux fireplaces = decorating mantle HEAVEN!
his/her office with chalkboard wall....and other chalkboard projects
Sliding barn door for our bedroom
Man cave/Hobby room for all of D's activities
Here are some pics I found on my pinterest that I'm using for inspiration. Working full-time AND blogging does not lend itself to a lot of free time (I'm sure you all know that!) but I'm going to try and tackle decorating projects room by room. Check out these ideas --
I mentioned in this post wanting to do a fun project with a pallet but have yet to actually come up with an idea. Poor D, he went out and found this extremely heavy pallet, dragged it into our old, tiny apartment, disassembled it and it has sat there unused. Shame on me -- but this is just one reason why I love him. Anyway, the two ideas I've come up with are creating a cool focal point for our living room with a word painted on it {maybe HOME} or create a similar look in our bedroom seen below.
Thoughts?
Moving on, we have a small room that we didn't know what to do with. It will serve as a guest room when we actually have people stay, but we wanted something a little more functional because how often does that happen. So D's man cave/music room was created. Here are some ideas he picked out {some already in the process} and pics soon to follow...
then we have an another room for an office. I've been picturing this really cool office with his and her sides as this awesome space to inspire and drive our passions. I blog among other things and D is currently writing a book -- so what better place to create with inspiration all around us. And how about a black magnetic chalkboard wall too --
yes, I think so.
Next up -- we want to make sliding barn doors for our bedroom. The office and bedroom connect with no door (welcome to Hoboken where everything is old, and all buildings have weird quirks about them) so we wanted to create a separate working space and bedroom sanctuary.
Love the idea of an accent wall.
D and I are obsessed with our coffees and teas -- so a beverage station seems like a natural addition. Ours won't be as hooked up as this (mostly because we're working with limited space in the kitchen area) but I want something functional and cool. We use of Keurig machine like 574389574829 times a day -- so we might as well make it a functional area that makes it easy for us.
Our apartment has another small room off our bedroom which we just couldn't figure out what to do with. And then the light bulb went off and said -- "I wanna make this my dream walk-in closet!"
I saw this very image on pinterest and wanted to create a similar look. The actual closet organizer (from Home Depot) has already been purchased and assembled (thanks baby!) and now I need to do some major organizing and decorating. Pics to follow soon!
With February quickly approaching I've been trying to find cute ideas for valentine's day mantles.
I like this one because of it's simplicity.
I'll be sure to post what I come up with later....
Well that's all kids. Now it's time to make my decorating ideas into reality.
Hope you all have a lovely day!
