I was once told every woman (and man) should have a "signature scent" -- meaning one specific perfume or cologne that when smelled by others, it evokes positive memories of that person. Its supposedly also a great way for a lover to recall memories when smelling that scent. I personally have always loved the idea of having a signature scent (I am a creature of habit at times) yet, I also like to switch things up at times. If I had to pick one scent as my signature, I think most of my friends, family and D would identify me by Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. Even if they didn't know the name of the exact perfume, they would know it when they smelled it. They do say scent is the strongest sense tied to memory right? On top of that, Oh, Lola! by Marc Jacobs comes in as my close second favorite.
And lastly, I do like to switch up scents for summer to "lighten" things up -- and Eternity Summer by Calvin Klein is my favorite not only because it never disappoints, but also because Calvin Klein comes out with a different scent every summer with a different bottle. I've been collecting them for a few years now (I think I have 3 or 4 bottles) and what's cool about this is I switch them up all summer long, and the scents bring me back to that specific summer. Mmmmm.... summer 2011 was one of my personal favorites!
I also heard this really cool idea for any ladies who are engaged or planning to get married. What you can do is buy a brand new perfume for your wedding day that you've never worn, and your future hubby has never smelled on you. Wear it on your wedding day, your honeymoon, and about a few months straight after getting married during your blissful first months as newlyweds. Now the scent has been officially tied for both of you to wonderful memories as love birds. Then moving forward make this a "signature special scent" that you wear on special occasions like anniversaries, birthday, date nights, or any other romantic rendezvous. Voila! Instant happy memories.
How amazing is that idea??
As for the men....
Here are the scents D wears and switches up. Curve was the scent he wore when I met him. Yes, some people look at Curve as a teenager cologne, you know, the starter one boys wore in high school and college. But I just don't care. I love the scent and when I smell it I think of him! So this one is a keeper and in constant rotation. The first gift I ever bought him was Armani Mania and I really went out on a limb with this one because I had no idea if he would like it, and that early into the relationship (I wanna say 3 months?) Cologne can be kind of an intimate gift and could freak guys out, so tread with caution! Luckily it worked out well and he loved it. It just smells like him so I went for it.
Bleu De Chanel is another one of his favorites that I picked out for him as a Christmas gift one year. This one is a woody fragrance that is clean and masculine all wrapped up in one. If you're looking for a new scent for your man, I'm convinced most women and men would enjoy this scent. And it's Chanel, and Ms. Coco herself rarely does anything wrong. Lastly, I got D on the Eternity Summer band wagon because why not? Summers are meant to be remembered.

So the whole reason I wrote this post is that I'm shopping around for a new "signature scent" to add to my collection, but I'm overwhelmed by all the scents out there -- there's just too many to choose from!! I also have to mention that I secretly wear these scents too, and get compliments ALL THE TIME, but am usually too embarrassed to share it. Welp, I guess the secrets out now!
So what scents are you currently wearing, and do you have any recommendations for me?
Hope you all have a lovely day!
