The LWD (and bonus award)

I found this inspiration photo on Pinterest and fell in love with the classic look. I just scored a LWD (Little White Dress) and needed a way to style it that was work appropriate. The LWD alone was sexy and form fitting, so adding a navy cardigan and cinching it with a belt gave it a classic and posh look.

Outfit Details:
Navy Cardigan: Target // Little White Dress: H&M (in stores now)
Belt: Old Navy // Nude Heels: Nine West

Also I was very excited when Ashely from Ashley's Passion for Fashion nominated me for the Liebster Award. She is such a doll so please do check her out!
There's a few questions to answer for this award and then I will pass it on to nominate others.

1. Which blogger inspires you or you simply just love and cannot get enough of?
All bloggers inspire me in some way because I love seeing what other people are into, other's styles, hobbies etc. I think we can always learn something from others. But if I have to pick one it would probably be Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere, since that was one of the first blogs I ever discovered and started reading.

2. What is your horoscope sign?
I'm a Leo with a birthday coming up very soon (August 4th)! I used to think I was a Leo to a T, and read my horoscope daily, but now I don't really follow that stuff too much anymore.

3. What are two quotes you love?
In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer. -Albert Camus

Be the change you wish to see in the world. -- Ghandi

4. What is one thing this summer you must do, no ifs or buts about it?
Hmmm....pretty much anything on my Summer Bucket List. I think I'm doing a pretty good job actually of checking stuff off!

5. What are 3 words your friends would use to describe you?
Silly, fun, loyal.

6. What is one dream you hope to achieve in your life journey?
Land an awesome school counselor job (in the process of looking right now) and to become a successful life and style blogger : )

7. What is your favorite dish to eat?
This is too hard to answer. But I think I'd have to say pizza. What's that saying, even when it's bad it's still pretty good? haha

8. Who is one person that inspires you in your life?
Another difficult question. I don't think I can pick just one - but I believe my parents, friends and lovely bf are all sources of inspiration on a daily basis.

9.  What is one thing you are looking forward to this fall?
Um...EVERYTHING. Fall is by far my favorite season. Sweaters, boots, jeans, football, pumpkin flavored everything, changing leaves, halloween - bring it on!

10.   Favorite television shows that start up in the fall or now summer?
I don't watch too much TV but I am excited to Intervention and Hoarders to come back on. It must be the counseling/psychology side of me that loves this kind of stuff!

11. What are the top 5 places you want to travel?
-Italy
-Greece
-The Philippines (to visit family)
-St. Lucia (romantic getaway)
-Paris (for the fashion)

Well that was fun! Here are some blogs I'd like to nominate:

Olivia Moone

The Teacher Diva

Mr and Mrs Powell

Hope you all enjoyed the LWD look of the day and bonus award!
Do you all own the LWD? How do you style it?

Colorblocking to the (Max)i

Another hot day called for another easy breezy maxi dress. I really love this dress because of the color blocking and the subtle chevron print. I wore this out to movies in the park (they were showing The Help) and listening to the world's worst blue grass band. No, seriously all they did was sing about people dying and other terribly depressing topics. The band was awful but the movie was great -- and the book was even better!
Outfit Details:
Maxi Dress: Target (this spring) // Earrings: Express // Sunnies: Loft
Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelet: gift // Flip Flops: Tory Burch
Anyone else slightly disappointed when you read a book then watch the movie only to find it doesn't live up to your expectations?
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all have a lovely week!

Throw an Olympics Party!

The Summer Olympics 2012 in London town have finally rolled around and I'm super excited. There's nothing greater to me than the Olympics to stir up patriotism and pride in your country! Not to mention watching and admiring exceptional and raw talent is truly inspiring.
The Olympics are also a great excuse to throw a party and cheer on your favorite athletes in hope they bring home the gold. Here are so fun details I would include in my Olympic theme party.
All images found on my Pinterest.
It all starts with the invitations -- notice the fruit loops?? And who to RSVP to? haha

cute little table set up.
Loving these international sandwiches to get a taste of other countries specialties.
"Gold Medal" cookie desserts.
I'd like to frame this for the food table.

Olympic popcorn torches and cupcakes below.
Sparkly USA picture frames
And last but not least patriotic cupcakes with flags to wave around when we're done eating.

Even though it's so hard to narrow it down, I think my favorite summer events to watch are gymnastics, swimming and track. What are your favorite events?

Go USA!!!

What to wear to a concert?

This is what I wore the other day when D and I went to see Aerosmith in concert. I was especially excited to see them since I bought tickets to a show a few years back but ended up getting cancelled because Steven Tyler ended up rocking out a little too hard, fell off the stage and injured himself!
For a summer concert I wanted something cute, simple and comfortable to rock out in! They are definitely one of my favorite bands (I mean come on, they have been killin' it since the '70's) so I was really happy to check another thing off my Summer Bucket List.
Outfit Details:
White Tank: Old Navy (spring) // Shorts: American Eagle (this season)
Necklace: Tiffany's (gift from my bff) // Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelet: Tory Burch
Bag: Michael Kors // Sandals: Payless
Close up of the shorts detail.
And of course I wanted to include just a few shots from the concert since I've completed my Summer Bucket List #1: See Aerosmith in concert : )
 getting ready.
 Steven Tyler rockin' out!
 Cheeeeese.

Does anyone else love going to concerts as much as I do? Who are you seeing this summer?

Food For Thought

I'm one of those people who takes pictures of their food {and other people's food} before they eat it -- guilty as charged! But what food lover doesn't like looking at pictures of yummy food and tasty treats?
Here's some pics of what I've been eating lately : )
Me and D's Saturday morning ritual of hitting up our local diner : )
Whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and bananas. Breakfast of champions!
Scrambled egg whites with tomatoes, feta and spinach on a whole wheat wrap.
Can never go too long without getting my sushi fix!
Grilled red and green bell peppers
All the salads are here - Fruit salad, potato salad & pasta salad
And the most amazing fresh crab legs from down the shore. Served with a baked potato, corn and hot drawn butter. DELISH!

What have you all been indulging in lately?
Hope you all have a pretty little day : )

Remix your Maxi

Ahhh another hot day where the idea of clothes seem unbearable! I feel like I've been practically living in my black maxi dress because its so light and airy, so I have to keep coming up with different ways to remix it. Here I layered a bright tank over the dress and cinched it with a belt.
With that being said, I think I've done a pretty good job of giving this dress a completely new look. You would never realize I wore this same dress last week shown here : )
Outfit Details:
Ombre Tank: Old Navy // Maxi Dress: New York and Co. (still in stores now)
Key Necklace: Kay's (gift from D) // Belt: Target // Watch: Michael Kors // Sandals: Payless
Details of one of my favorite necklaces that D got me for our anniversary last year : )
Have you been finding yourself wearing and remixing the same pieces this summer? If so, what?

Come here Sugarlips!

I was so excited when Sugarlips sent me this beautiful lace skirt. What I love most about this ultra soft and feminine piece is the pretty peach slip that lines the skirt, as well as the chambray waist band that gives it a subtle pop of color. Originally I paired it with a chambray shirt on top, but here I paired it with a black flowy top -- which made it a perfect look for a date night with my man : )
Lately I've been loving anything lace so this skirt was perfect!
Outfit Details:
Top: Express // Lace Skirt: c/o Sugarlips -- found here
Key Necklace: Kay's (gift from D) // Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelets: Charlotte Russe
Nude heels: Nine West
Please don't mind my frizziness. Damn you humidity!
Lace detail.
I feel like a ballerina in this skirt!
To me, lace is the ultimate pretty and feminine piece for a date night.
What are some of your go-to pieces for a date?

Hope you all have a pretty little day : )
