sparkles and fur are meant for everyday

I'm a firm believer in not saving things for special occasions. But it took some time to retrain my thinking. I used to think only fine china was used on holidays, and special outfits were only meant for special occasions. Not anymore! Why save something so amazing only to be left sitting in a closet -- unused and lonely. Dishes are meant to be used, candles are meant to be burned, and clothes are meant to be worn. This goes especially for fur and sparkles. They are not longer reserved for special fun nights. Nope. Wear your most fun and favorite pieces during the day time, on a Tuesday, only if you have to run to the post office! And that's your #tbt advice for the day : )

So what are your thoughts? are you one to save your best outfits and favorites pieces for special occasions? Or do you wear the heck out of your stuff??

  1. This is so great! I love wearing my "special" items on a regular day! I have a full lace skirt I usually save for special but love throwing it in the mix! Great outfit!

  2. This is such a fun outfit! I agree that you should wear it instead of just saving it for a special occasion that may only come around once a year :)

    1. plus it's a good way to rationalize the money you spent on things! If you bought a $100 skirt and only wore it twice as opposed to wearing it 20 times -- the cost per wear theory makes me feel better about the money I do spend!!

  3. I am totally guilty of saving my new/special items for something important! I really need to stop doing that. Love your skirt!

    1. I used to be the same way AJ -- I really had to change my way of thinking! Now I look at it as cost per wear, and I feel better about the money I spend and the clothes I purchase!

    1. awwww thank you! and when it comes to holidays, there is never such a thing as being too festive. I think it's all about a state of mind because though my clothes may not be necessarily "more special" it might be the little details and things you do to make holidays more special. It's all about the little things : )

  6. Agree! You shouldn't reserve the nice things only for nice occasions - they should be worn all the time if you can. That fur snood is the perfect touch to this look!
