Corbin street and Christmas Trees

As I mentioned in a previous post, we moved back to Hoboken. As ecstatic as we were, we felt that our old apartment on Corbin street needed a proper farewell. I saw this really cool idea on Pinterest where you leave locks wherever you go (special places, vacations, old homes etc.) to permanently leave a piece you everywhere you go -- and something physical you can go back and visit. You write your name on the lock, lock it up, and throw away the key to symbolize that this place was once a part of your life and in some ways will forever be a part of you. I read this idea and I LOVED it.
I knew a lock ceremony was in order.
Outfit Details:
Jacket: H&M // Sweater: Victoria's Secret // Fur snood: Asos
Black leggings: Gap // Boots: Hunter
 the keys!
And the lock ceramony at a fence nearby our old apartment.
We carved "D+S 2012" in the lock to make it legit.
Instead of throwing away the key -- we decided to keep it in our memory box we like to call "the tin"
And now it's there forever.
And we'll forever leave our mark on that little street.
And that little street will always have a small place in our heart.
After the lock ceremony -- we were off to get our tree.
Little full -- lotta sap!
And then the master of interior illumination went to work. This is where D excels!
Can't wait to see what he's capable of when we have a whole house!
Every year when I was growing up, my family debated whether to have colored or white lights on the tree. My mom and I always wanted the classic white lights with matching ornaments, where my brother and dad wanted the colorful lights and homemade ornaments from our childhood. The debate lasted for years until we decided -- hey, why don't we just have two trees and make everyone happy. Which is what we did, and I loved it. When I have a house of my own that's big enough, I will continue the tradition of two trees with both lights.
In our apartment since we can only have one tree - we went for colored lights because they are D's favorite -- and even added those cool large vintagey bulbs because they reminded him of his childhood. I was unsure how it would look at first, but was so happy to see the results and how it gave the tree this fun and playful feel.
Hope you all have a lovely day : )
