Mad about Madras

Before D and I left for vacation we went down to Long Beach Island (LBI for all you non-New Jerseyians) to visit his mom at her beach house. Seriously, who goes to the beach before going on vacation --apparently we do! I got a chance to rock my super old madras skirt -- really love the madras print -- something about it feels so beachy to me! I've been wanting to find cute madras shorts for me and D and can't seem to find what I'm looking for anywhere. Anyway, here are some outfit pics of the day and a few instagram shots of our stay down the shore : )
Outfit Details:
Navy Tank: Abercrombie (so very old) // Madras Skirt: American Eagle (also ridiculously old) Sunnies: Loft (also crazy old!) // Watch & Bracelet: Michael Kors (gifts from D)
Love Necklace: Tiffany & Co (bday gift from D) //Flip Flops: Tory Burch
Sorry about the bra strap shot!

This is the face I always give D to make him laugh : )
Toes in the sand : )
Fresh crab legs from my favorite place and coronas. Not too shabby
And at the night D surprised me by taking me on the ferris wheel and kissing me on the top!
Which was so cute and sweet because he knew it was 31. on my Summer Bucket list to kiss at the top of a ferris wheel!! What a doll he is : ) Overall it was the perfect quick trip to the beach that was filled with a lot of laughs and a lot of great memories!

Hope you all have a lovely day : )

Airport Style

I'm baaaaack!! I know, you must be so excited haha!
D and I had such a lovely vacation that I must admit, I am currently suffering from post-vacation depression. I didn't want to leave the palm trees, the laying out by the pools, the beach, the good food and drinks...well you get the deal! So now that I'm back -- it's back to reality. But the one good thing about being back is getting back to blogging (oh how I missed you all in the blogging world!!) Seriously, I didn't realize how hard it is sometimes to disconnect from the cyber world! Anyway, here's some pics of my airport style. When it comes to being stylish while traveling I think you need you need to be both comfortable and cute. Personally I like a lot of neutrals so you can pack less and mix and match what you wear. So for me, that means my black maxi which I've worn about 54820492 times this summer. But let me tell you, it's definitely a vacation staple!!
Outfit Details:
Hat: Gap // Cardigan: New York & Co. // Maxi Dress:  New York & Co.
Watch & Bracelet: Michael Kors // Carryon bag: Louis Vuitton
Love Necklace: Tiffany & Co. // Flip Flops: Report // Nail Polish: Essie Case Study
When it comes to travel I like looking nice, but I also like being comfortable. I long for the days when people actually got dressed up in suits, hats and dresses when they traveled (think Mad Men-esque) but I do know that sitting in those tiny airplanes seats are less than idea for getting comfy. So a flowy maxi dress was the way to go. I added a light cardigan (in case the plane got cold) and also included a scarf (that can double as blanket) and a jean jacket in my bag. Lastly, when I travel I like my purse to double as my carry on -- hence my Louis Vuitton Neverfull fits the bill. This bag is durable too so it can also be used for my beach/pool bag!! The key to packing for vacation is everything must have multiple purposes and ways to wear.
And for a few other random pics...
This was just too hilarious - This guy at the airport got 8, yes 8 different sauces to dip his mcnuggets
in and lined them up like a buffet. I didn't even know McDonald's had that many sauces!! ;-) I had to be sneaky and capture this funny moment. Also, it was 9:00 am.
Me and D before boarding the plane....
I'm a little very scared of flying to I was trying to capture the moment here.

So glad to be back and fulfilling my blogging fix!
And stay tuned for more vacation pics to come : )

How do you like to dress when you travel?

Keep it Simple

Keep it simple is a motto I like to live by. Sometimes I think we complicate things and make them more difficult than they need to be. And I think the same goes for our outfits too. Sometimes simple is good, and less is more. This outfit originally consisted of a white tank and jean shorts (I know, how basic can you get) then I layered a vintage floral button down on top. And by vintage, I mean I wore this button down in high school -- yes high school! So it's over 10 years old, hence the "vintage" label : )
Outfit Details:
Floral Button down: American Eagle (soooo old it's practically vintage) // White Tank: Old Navy Jean Shorts: F21 // Watch & Bracelet: Michael Kors //
Necklace: Tiffany & Co. // Flip Flops: Tory Burch
Is anyone else proud they still wear pieces from high school or from a long time ago? ; )

Ladies Who Lunch

First off, I want to say thank you for all the wonderful and sweet birthday messages from you! You sure do know how to make a girl feel special! I had the best birthday yet and spent it with the people who mean the most to me -- and because of that I feel like the luckiest girl. I'll be sharing some of my b-day pics with you all tomorrow.
****
So today I'm sharing what I wore to meet one of my girlfriends for a lunch date and to meet her sweet new baby girl. It was overcast, gloomy, and humid even though it wasn't that hot --  so I went for the tried and true maxi dress. I've had this dress seriously FOREVER and it's originally a halter dress, but I wanted a strapless look so I simply removed the ties and tucked them in!
And I couldn't decide between the light cardigan or jean jacket to wear on top.
Which one do you think looks best?

Outfit Details:
Maxi Dress: Old Navy (super old) // Cardigan: New York and Co. // Jean Jacket: Old Navy
Necklace: Tiffany's (bridesmaid gift from my bff) // Watch: Michael Kors // Sandals: Payless
Me and the little munchkin : ) Looks like she's trying to escape from me!

Which look do you like the best?

Hope everyone has a great day!
